The server fetches the document to avoid browser CORS problems. It rejects credentials, private network targets, unsafe redirects, and PDFs over the 30 MB MVP limit.

03 / Text finds its shape

Paper reads selectable text from the PDF, identifies likely body sizing, detects headings, and filters repeated headers, footers, and page numbers.

Instead of forcing a fixed page onto your screen, Paper renders the extracted text in a responsive column with book-like type and natural scrolling.

Use the Aa menu to adjust text size, line width, line spacing, and theme. These preferences stay in your browser for the next document.

Paper stores reading progress locally against the URL, so you can close the tab and return to the same place without creating an account.

Why not just use the built-in PDF viewer?

Built-in viewers are good at preserving a page exactly. That is their job. Paper is for the different job: making a long document comfortable to read. When layout fidelity matters most, keep the original PDF. When the words matter most, open it in Paper.
